History
The institution traces its roots to 1890 when it was established as Woolwich Polytechnic. Over time it evolved through Thames Polytechnic and achieved university status in 1992, becoming the University of Greenwich. Its historic buildings at the Greenwich Campus were originally designed by the famed architect Sir Christopher Wren in the 17th century, reflecting a deep heritage now adapted to modern higher education needs.
