History
The institution’s roots trace back to multiple higher education colleges formed over the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, including art and technical schools in Derby. In 1992 the university gained its charter under the Further and Higher Education Act. Since then it has expanded across the region, incorporating further-education campuses and strengthening its infrastructure to meet evolving educational and industry needs.
